ANGUS bulls sold to a top of $11,000 and averaged $5500 at the 31st annual Mundoo Angus sale at "Bonnie Doon", Glencoe, on Friday.
Twenty nine of 39 bulls offered in the auction sold for a clearance of 74 per cent.
Bulls were sold to commercial producers from NSW and Queensland, selling to Goulburn in the south and as far north as Mckinlay in north western Queensland.
The top bull, Mundoo Kombat K5, sold to repeat clients and volume buyers Colin and Glenda Crosby, Glencoe Station, Glencoe.
The 23-month-old bull, by Mundoo Howzat H123 from Mundoo Gypsey E9, had a scrotal circumference of 40 centimetres and was the heaviest bull in the catalogue, weighing 940 kilograms.
Kombat will be part of the Mundoo Angus team at the Royal Queensland Show in August.
The Crosbys, close neighbours to Mundoo Angus, have been clients for the past decade.
Mr Crosby said the cattle were well-suited to the environment.
“We like their confirmation, and for us, bulls have got to be able to handle the hills, and they’ve got to be easy to handle,” he said.
The Crosby family also purchased Mundoo Kounteract K8, a 23-month-old son of Mundoo Digger and Mundoo Bess W29 weighing 890kg, for $10,000.
Three bulls – Mundoo Kinetic K18, Mundoo Kaboom K17 and Mundoo Knockout K21 – sold for $8500.

The Crosbys purchased Kaboom, a 23-month-old son of Mundoo Calypso C130 and Mundoo Holly F96, and Knockout, a 23-month-old bull by Anguru Toger F11 from Mundoo Jumana F62, was bought by Phillip Perkins, “Glenview”, Glen Innes.
The Crosbys were the volume buyers, purchasing five bulls for an average of $8500.
Paul Mullins, Mckinlay, Queensland; and Rob Hall, “Fileton”, Goulburn, each bought four bulls, averaging $4375 and $5500 respectively.
David Mayne, Deepwater, bought three bulls for $4000 each.
Mundoo Angus stud principal Grant Watt said clients were looking for commercial bulls able to do well in all environments.
“The focus at Mundoo Angus for the last 45 years has been the commercial attributes of our cattle.
“We like to have cattle that have longevity. We’ve got clients now using bulls and they’re getting six or seven years out of them.”
The sale was conducted by Elders Glen Innes and Newberry te Velde Carige Agencies, Glen Innes, with Brian Kennedy, Elders stud stock, taking bids.
