THE market remained strong for the smaller yarding of 510 good quality weaners at the annual Elders blue ribbon weaner sale at Walcha on Wednesday.
Steers averaged $1154, reaching a high of 436 cents a kilogram and $1529 a head for a single 395kg Charolais-cross steer from the Partridge family.
Heifers averaged 363c/kg and topped at 370c/kg and $1132.
Norton Jones, “Falls View”, Walcha, sold 88 Angus steers, topping at 428c/kg and $1246 to average $1156.
Peter Lisle, “Malford”, Walcha, sold 66 steers, topping at $1244 for Hereford-cross steers. Mr Lisle’s 17 heifers reached a high of $1132 for 377kg Angus heifers which sold for 300c/kg.
Ian, Janet and Todd Whillock, "Clovernook", Woolbrook, sold 92 nine to 10-month-old EU-accredited Charolais-cross and Angus weaners.
The steers topped at 414c/kg and $1416, averaging $1191, and heifers reached 354c/kg and $1095, averaging $1068.
