The Vincent family’s 18th annual Booragul Angus bull sale was a record breaking success for the Gunnedah based stud.
More than 100 buyer registrations and standing room only around the sale ring helped drive prices to a new $60,000 sale top. The last record was set at $18,000.
All 63 Angus bulls sold to average a staggering $13,715, up $5995 on last year’s average.
In the breakdown 56 two year old bulls topped at $60,000 and averaged $13,554 while seven yearling bulls topped at $35,000 and averaged $15,000. The stud also sold 30 stud heifers to average $3006.
Lot 3 Booragul Epistle L70, a Booragul Epistle H99 son from a Reiland Fisk daughter attracted the $60,000 bidding war with Dunoon Angus, Holbrook, securing the record breaker over the phone.
The rising two-year old weighed in at 910 kilograms with a scrotal measure of 41cm. Described as a “powerhouse bull” L70 has a moderate birth-weight with an explosive growth placing him in the top one per cent for 400 and 600 day weights.
The highly sort after bull also measured in the top five per cent for carcase weight and breed average for fat cover.
Lot 35 Booragul Revenue M4 topped the Autumn Yearlin bull draft at $35,000 selling to three-way syndicate Coffin Creek, Mudgee, Palgrove, Dalveen QLD and Knowla Angus, Gloucester.
A son of Connealy Revenue, the march 2016 drop bull was from a Wattletop Sitz daughter.
Measuring in the top 10pc for carcase weight, intramuscular fat (IMF) and eye muscle area (EMA) the “cracker” bull was sort as an ideal out-cross for the syndicate’s herds.
Volume buyer was Consolidated Pastoral Company, Biloela QLD, flying in to purchase 24 bulls on their first visit to the stud. The CPC draft topped at $20,000 and averaged $13,917.
There was a strong stud and commercial presence at the sale which was settled by Elders with guest auctioneer, Paul Dooley, controlling the bids.
