BUYERS keen on securing joined females kept values high while the steer market was slightly easier at the Dubbo store cattle sale last Friday where 2000 head were yarded.
Female buyers came from the Hunter, Central Tablelands, Northwest slopes and Wodonga while steer buyers were from within a 150 kilometre radius, mainly local, Condobolin. Forbes, Warren and Coonamble.
PT Lord Dakin’s Paul Dakin said people buying joined females were hedging on a safe bet with current seasonal conditions.
“They would have one mouth to feed, but more when the rain breaks,” he said.
However, the steer market had eased slightly.
“This was mainly due to the tightening season,” he said.
