Growing interest in the Gromark Genetic rams bred by Kate Sevier was evident at the annual on-property sale which saw 72 rams sold from 75 offered for a sale top of $1600 and average $878.
“We were pleased with return buyers who are looking for specific rams to meet their on farm breeding objectives,” Mrs Sevier said.
“They like that our rams can offer four options.”
The top priced ram was bought by Neville Manglesdorf for repeat client, Byrne Farm Co, “Allawah”, Wallendbeen and included in their draft of four rams to average $1375.
“He has low birthweight and good weaning weight with great eye muscle,” Mr Manglesdorf said.
Repeat buyers leading the selection of quality rams was Brian and Amanda Protheroe, Grenfell, who purchased 10 for a $895 average and the Kaveney family, “Coolonga”, Thuddungra, who purchased nine rams for a $1033 average.
Other volume buyers included return client, Andrew Jarrott, “Oaklee”, Bribbaree who bought three rams for $900 average and Roger and Sue Sinclair, “Killrea”, Bribbaree who paid a $775 average for their draft of four rams.
“We were pleased with the number of new clients attending the auction and such interest on the day,” Mrs Sevier said.
The sale was conducted by Gerrard and Partners Livestock, Young, with Joe Bargwanna coming out of retirement to assist Mark Jolliffe with auctioneering.
