Glenmorgan Angus, Llangothlin via Guyra sold 59 of 63 yearling bulls on Thursday to top at $15,000 and average $4000.
The cold and blustery day wasn’t the only thing cooling the market with beef prices on the slide and feed disappearing across a swathe of country, west and east. But Guyra looks green and the season has been kind to Glenmorgan whose crop of sires looked the business and had a remarkably easy temperament.
Queensland Angus studs bid up the top bull, Glenmorgan Klooney M286 by Millah Murrah Klooney K42, purchased by Glenmorgan two years ago for $80,000, with.Ashley and Brett Haager with Dougie Mack from Valor Brook Angus, Bell Qld, succeeding against Jeff and Ryan Holzwart, Bauhinia Park Angus stud, Emerald, Qld.
Valor Brook, keen on the outcross genetics and buying through Ray White Casino, went on to purchase another 10 bulls to become the volume buyer.
The Holzwarts were also the underbidders in another ‘genuine stud bull’, Glenmorgan Reality Man by Matauri Reality which went to Chris and Robin Swindale, Barlow Park, Armidale for $8,500. In the end the Holzwarts bought three commercial bulls to a top of $5000 for Glenmorgan Klooney Man by Millah Murrah Klooney.

Dan and James Gilmore, Warialda, bought two bulls including Glenmorgan Klooney Man M364, by Millah Murrah Klooney from a Wattletop dam for $3,500. Glenmorgan is fond of that female line and last May purchased 19 Wattletop females at the stud’s first disbursement. The Gilmore family will put Angus over Santa Gertrudis.
