Bulls that are fit and ready to work are what the Graham family’s Bongongo Angus is renowned for.
The family offered 74 bulls at the annual spring bull sale held on property at “Riverview” Coolac.
Seventy bulls sold for a $8265 average with a top price of $15,500 reached for Bongongo M180 a son of the hugely popular sire EF Complement 8088 from the Autumn 2016 born draft.
M180 was purchased by long term Bongongo supporter Chris Longley for this Longaroo Pastoral Company, Yass.
He was in the top 10 per cent of the Angus breed on breedplan for eye muscle area and domestic index and top 20pc for calving ease daughters, milk, intra muscular fat, and Angus breeding and heavy grass indices.
Mr Longley purchased a second autumn 2016 born EF Complement 8088 son in Bongongo M67 for $7000.
Julong Partnershop, “Julong”, Tumut, purchased the second top price bull another autumn 2016 born EF Complement 8088 son for $14,000.
While Dustin Kemp paid $13,000 for a son of new sire Sterita Park Black Jack J231 in Bongongo M142.
DJ Graham Trust, “Red Hill”, Coolac, lead the volume buyers purchasing five bulls for a $10,800 average reaching a top of $12,000.
Nicholls Family Trust, “Fernyhill”, Gundagai also purchased five bulls reaching a top of $10,000 with a $7200 average.
While Coots Creek Angus, “Renta”, Hall; Beggan Beggan Pastoral Company, “Beggan Beggan”, Harden; and King Hill Pastoral Company, Jugiong; all puchased four bulls for average prices of $10,250, $10,125, and $5,250 respectively.
The sale was conducted by Elders Rural Services, Gundagai with Steve Ridley and Aaron Seaman the auctioneers.
