Do you listen to podcasts? I do, pretty much exclusively and to the point that I have to remember to turn on the radio on the hour to catch the news and stay at least semi in touch with what’s going on in ‘real time’.
Podcasts are a wonderful way to be entertained, informed and inspired while doing other things.
And if you are interested in learning more about the wonderful world of social media and how it can help us producers grow our businesses and turn our customers into our fiercest advocates, there are some fantastic podcasts out there to help you do just that!
Most of us rural/regional dwellers spend a lot of time in the car or working outside on our own.
For both scenarios a good podcast is a godsend.
They’re also wonderful to take the drudgery out of boring work like folding laundry and great company while out walking, gardening or in the kitchen.
I was chatting to a friend recently about all of this, and she said something like ‘oh yes, I keep hearing about podcasts but never know where to start, what to listen to.’
This seems to be a fairly common response to my raving about this platform, so I thought it might be handy to do a quick round up of a few favourites to get you started.
The below list makes up my current favourite podcasts with an emphasis on food/social media and current affairs:
- Of course we need to start with our very own podcast My Open Kitchen! Now into its third season, co-host Skye Manson and I share stories, tips, interviews and inspiration to help producers and small business owners use social media to build supportive communities and engagement online.
- Hashtag Authentic by Sara Tasker – another great podcast all about using social media well. There are so, so many great tips and interviews in here, every episode is a mine of useful information.
- The Soulful PR Podcast with Janet Murray – if you are running a business and want to get more publicity for it then please listen to this podcast. Every episode is full of advice for ways to grow your reach in achievable ways.
