Huon and Challambi Charolais studs held their inaugural on property bull sale at “Granite Hill”, Jindera.
The two studs came together to offer 30 bulls selling to a top of $7000 and averaging $4000.
The top money went to Challambi Muscles, purchased by Roderick Binny, Glenlea Charolais, Dorrigo. the bull is an embryo transfer son of North American AI sire LT Venture 3198 from the donor dam Rosedale Highness G114E.
Muscles was in the top five per cent of Charolais breed plan for calving ease daughters, gestation length, birth weight, milk, and domestic and export indices as well as top 10 per cent for calving ease direct, scrotal size and northern terminal index. He will perform stud duties.
Mr Binny also purchased the second top price bull at $4500 Glenlea RP Rio M37. He returned to Glenlea after being purchased as a calf at foot by vendor Nigel Spink.
Sired by Rangan Park Rio Bravo D15 he was in the top 10 per cent of Charolais breedplan for 200 day weight, eye muscle area and retail yield.
Mr Binny also bought a third bull for $4000, averaging $5167 for the lot. Challambi Charolais sold six of the seven offered to a top of $7000 for a $4500 average.
Huon Charolais sold nine to a top of $4000 at an average of $3571.
