RETURNING clients recognising the wool qualities of Wyuna breeding, picked out 48 of the 56 rams offered on Tuesday and paid a top of $2500 and a $1417 average at auction for the Beveridge family’s 21st annual on-property sale of Wyuna stud, “Warragong”, Armatree.
Returning for their ninth year, Eric and Colleen Beer with son, Simon and daughter-in-law, Robyn, “Pine Hill”, Neilrex, paid an average of $2200 for three Merino rams including the sale-topper at $2500, a 17.4 micron ram sired by a Wyuna Syndicate sire. They also bought a ram sired by a Wang Syndicate sire at equal second top money of $2400.
Eric Beer said their Wyuna cast-for-age and classed out maidens joined to their stud White Suffolk rams with excellent results when selling at Dubbo prime lamb sales.
David Lennon of Cranbourne Pastoral Company, Yelarbon, Queensland, also returned to secure six rams for a $1417 average with an 18.9 micron son of a Wang Syndicate sire topping the draft at equal second-top price of $2400.
Other returning buyers Wayne and Gail Leigh, “Kananga”, Geurie, who have been clients of long-standing, paid an average of $1546 for their selection of 15 rams topping at $2300 for a Wang Syndicate son growing 18.6 micron wool.
These rams will head to the family’s Cairo” flock based in the Tipla district.
John Rae’s Pentdale operation of some 6000 Merino ewes at “Carwell”, between Gulargambone and Quambone, a Wyuna clients for some years, also returned and bought two rams topping at $2000 and averaging $1800. The top ram of 18.2 micron, a poll sired by Mulloorie Charlie.
John McDowell of Molgo Pty Ltd, Werris Creek Station, Werris Creek and Coonamble, returned to purchase 10 rams paying to $1500 and a $1280 average while Hugh Beveridge, “Bullagreen”, Armatree, bought four rams also paying to $1500 but averaging $1275.
The sale was conducted by Elders stud stock, Dubbo, with Andy McGeoch, Orange, the auctioneer.
