SPECKLE Parks continued to prove red hot for producers in the red meat industry today, with the Wattle Grove Speckle Park sale recording an extremely strong $11,433 average for bulls.
The Humphries family cleared 100 per cent for the bulls, females and genetics lots offered, with animals heading to Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and throughout NSW.
Thirty bulls were sold to hit the massive $11,433 average, topping at $22,000 for Wattle Grove The Sugar Man M164.
Purchased by the Comb Family, Hay, the 18-month old bull was an embryo calf by Canadian sire Codiak Putnam GNK 61Y from Codiak Amanda GNK 42Y.
Weighing 758 kilograms, he measured 40 centimeters in the scrotal circumference, 13 millimeters in the rump fat and nine mm in the rib fat with an eye muscle area (EMA) of 122 centimeters squared and intramuscular fat (IMF) of 5.1pc.
A full sibling to the top price bull fetched the equal second top price of $18,000.
Wattle Grove Midas M160 was purchased by DA. and KL. Gordon, “Burn Meadows”, Emerald, Qld.

Wattle Grove Drive Shaft M50 made the equal second top price of $18,000.
Purchased by Wanda Vale Pastoral, Galston, the 18-month old bull was sired by River Hill 60W Line Drive 54Z from Codiak Utah 23U.

Red hot prices were paid for heifers with 22 females sold for a high $13,318 average.
Chris and Bernadette Partington from Crocodile Creek, Megalong Valley, purchased the top price heifer for $28,000.
The 18-month old heifer, Wattle Grove Heidi M43, was by Star Bank Lacerta 68L from Wattle Grove 82U Heidi G81.
Shown successfully throughout 2017, the female sold joined to Wattle Grove Smoke and Mirrors L275 and was commented on as “one of the best” people had seen.
Despite creating a lot of interested from spirited buyers, the second top price heifer was also snapped up by Partingtons for $24,000.
The just 12-month old heifer, Wattle Grove Elsa M121, by Wattle Grove Devitt G160 from Wattle Grove F67 Anna J64, impressed bidders with the first bid taken at $10,000.
Three Speckle Park cross steers sold for an $1000 average with all steers selling to Luscombe Show Steers.
Commercial first-cross (F1) Speckle Park females also showed demand with Wattle Grove selling two lots of un-joined F1 heifers for a top of $1900 and a $1750 average.
Guest vendors Justin and Amy Dickens from JAD Agriculture, Yeoval, offered five lots that topped at $3300 and averaged $2746.
The Dickens’ top price lot comprised of five 18- to 20-month old, pregnancy tested in calf F1 heifers joined to New Zealand artificial insemination sire, Maungahina Kidman’s Cove K247.
Western Australia buyers Kamarah Speckle Park stud, Wannamal, successfully purchased the three embryo packages offered, paying an incredible average of $2733 per embryo.
The top price embryo lot fetched $3200 per embryo, consisting of three A grade embryos from donor GNK 15Y by the AI sire Colgan’s Baxter 1B.
Semen packages average $285 per straw and topped twice at $440/straw for the two lots of Colgan’s Baxter 1B offered. They were purchased by interstate buyers Boombah Cattle Co, Dingo, Qld, and Kamarah Speckles, Wannamal, WA.
Elders Bathurst conducted the sale with Paul Dooley, Tamworth, taking bids as the auctioneer. Elite Livestock Auctions hosted the sale online with great action coming from the platform.
