Rainfall spurs on cattle prices

Have you been captured in our photos from Kempsey's Spring steer and bullock sale?

Around 500 head of locally bred steers and bullocks were presented at Kempsey Stock and Land’s regular Spring Steer and Bullock sale today.  A large gallery of buyers from the Northern Tablelands and local areas saw strong competition, spurred on by good rainfall in the past fortnight, and the promise of more to come.

Dennis and Helen Mitchell sold a magnificent line of milk and two tooth Santa/Angus cross steers 489kg for 300.2c/kg, returning $1,468 per head.  Hereford steers belonging to Paul Barnett, 435kg, sold to 302.2c/kg, while Ben Lee’s Brangus steers, 408kg, made 300c/kg.

Steve Calleja sold a well bred line of Charbray steers 266kg, for 364.2c/kg, while G & D Thompsons black baldy steers, 284kg, sold for 384.2c/kg.

A small line up of weaner steers from 150kg to 250kg topped at 400c/kg for Angus steers belonging to Nicole Noakes from Rollands Plains.
