Glen Innes is fast becoming renowned as a premier dog selling destination fetching record average prices for its sixth annual sale.
Top dog trainers from three states were among the vendors offering working dogs at the rma network working stock dog auction recently. There were 27 dogs on offer with lot 11 Kanika Echo from Sam Gates, Uralla, topping the sale at $9250, which sold to a buyer from Walgett.
The average prices were $4588, up $500 from last year. Another highlight was the sale of well-bred 11-month-old pup Harewood Chance (the son of NSW champion dog Sunraysia George, from Justin Tombs at Armidale, which sold to a buyer from Walcha for $6000. The sheep yard vendor champion was Gwydir Banjo (Tony Overton, Walcha) which sold for $7000 while the cattle vendor was Bauers Jim (Craig Ervine, Baan Baa) for $6500.
