THERE was a massive crowd trackside for the running of the 2017 Robert Oatley Vineyards Mudgee Cup.
The feature race, which is run over 1600 metres, attracted horses from both country and city stables from as far away as Taree, Scone, Randwick and Warwick Farm.
Tahsin, a five-year-old bay gelding trained by John Thompson at Randwick and ridden by Jeff Penza produced a large cheer from the crowd when he stormed home to take the win in the $50,000 Mudgee Cup.
While the Cup headed back over the mountains, local Mudgee trainers Mack Griffiths with Butchoy and Cameron Crockett with Sharpe Hussler both tasted victory, while Gayna Williams, who also trains on the Mudgee track, secured two wins with Shadow Affair and Caisson Platoon in the last of day.
