Around 350 head of cattle went under the hammer at Kempsey Stock and Land’s last store and breeder sale for the year.
Laurie Argue from Kempsey Stock and Land said it was a great way to end the year with good quality cattle.
“In the last four weeks locally we have been going through large numbers of cattle since the season turned around at Kempsey after we got some rain in September,” Mr Argue said.
Joel Townsend from Kempsey had the highlight of the sale selling the best pen of cows and calves at a top of $1750 to Ian Windsor as well as two cows and calves to Mitchbrook for $1680.
Summerhill sold Charolais heifers and calves for $1520 to Narelle Hooper of Kinchela. They also sold unjoined Angus heifers to Tim Mainey for $1020.
“There were some good sales in the market but overall the market was easier to due dry conditions in NSW,” Ian Argue said.
Kempsey Stock and Land will be holding its 29th annual steer and bullock sale on January 12. They will auction a charity bullock on behalf of Allan and Claire Prior with proceeds going to cancer research.
