THE Dunedoo Amateur Swimming Club held its annual short course swimming carnival on Saturday December 9, with a total of 13 clubs in attendance.
One of the hardest strokes for most children is the butterfly; however this year at Dunedoo three swimmers produced record breaking swims.
In the 10 year old boys, 33 metre butterfly, Rhayne Shanks from Dubbo City Swimtech set a new record of 23.85 sec, beating B Powell’s record of 24.31 seconds.
In the girls’ 11 year old 33m butterfly, Mackenzie Andriske, from Coonamble, with a 21.66 sec swim was ahead of the previous record of 22.27, set by S Smith.
And in the 12 year old girls 66m butterfly, the record of 50.49 sec also set by S Smith was broken by Bianca Fuller from Dubbo City Swimtech with a new time of 50.35 seconds.
From the 94 individual events contested, the top five clubs won 85 of those events.
Coonamble Swimming Club was on top with 29 overall wins, followed by the Dubbo City Swimtech Swimming Club with 19, Mudgee Indoor with 14, host club, Dunedoo with 12 and Orana Aquatic Swim Club from Dubbo with 11.
