WHAT a year 2017 has been.
From fires and floods, saleyard closures to whopping prices for heifers – it’s had it all.
And as the year draws to a close, we thought it was timely to look back at some of the issues that made the cover of The Land in 2017.
In February a fundamental rejig and refocus of the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service was announced, and more cuts followed in August.
The Sir Ivan fire all-but wiped out the village of Uarbry and claimed numbers homes and livestock, including renowned stud stock.
In April we saw the Goulburn saleyard closure, and the North Coast hit with floods in the wake of Cyclone Debbie.
Bovine Johne’s and farm biosecurity plans were introduced, the Budget went big on inland rail, header insurance was in the spotlight and Bega Cheese bought Vegemite.
There was also joy at the Sydney Royal for many stud stock owners, and a Millah Murrah Angus heifer sold for a record $190,000.
And so much more!
