The recent annual Cobar ram sale featuring Dorpers and Australian Whites topped at $2200 and averaged $980.
With 94 rams offered there was a 95 per cent clearance in the multi-vendor sale.
On offer were 36 Dorpers, 48 White Dorpers and 10 Australian Whites from eight studs including Prieska Dorpers, Kaya Dorpers, Etiwanda White Dorpers, Western Plains White Dorpers, Alawah White Dorpers, Iron Rock White Dorpers, Kerrigundi White Dorpers and Collaroy Australian Whites.
The top price went to Kaya Dorpers for a Dorper ram at $2200 to the Chambers family of “Osterley Downs”, Cobar.
The highest average was taken out by local stud, Etiwanda White Dorpers, with a 100pc clearance and $1230 average.
Australian Green Properties, Koberjye Station, Cobar, bought 19 rams.
Luke Scales, Landmark Russell, Cobar, said despite dry conditions, the attendance and local support was pleasing.
“Although the average was slightly less than the previous year, the quality of the rams had improved immensely and the clearance rate was testimony to the quality of rams.” he said.
The sale was conducted by Landmark Russell, Cobar, with Luke Scales manning the rostrum.
