Beef Australia 2018 have announced the master of ceremonies (MC) and judging panel for the Pitch in the Paddock competition, supported by KPMG and being held for the first time at Beef Australia from May 6 to 12.
Calling on entrepreneurs and business owners who have industry experience and/or knowledge and are passionate about the opportunities their business will create, Beef Australia is seeking seemingly complex business models, concepts, services or products that can be explained within three minutes with clarity and credibility.
Beef Australia welcomes anyone who may have a concept or product, ranging from Agtech to beef production and food innovation ideas, to pitch to this extraordinary group of business leaders and investors in front of a live audience.
This exciting new event will be MC’d by founder of Blue Sky Alternative Investments and Inaugural QLD Chief Entrepreneur, Mark Sowerby, who will lead an impressive and formidable judging panel to judge the eight finalists.
The judging panel consists of five highly impressive successful business owners and operators, including KMPG Australia head of markets and AgTech sector leader, Ben Ven Delden; Glen Richards, veterinary physician, entrepreneur and investor who is also a Shark on Shark Tank; founder and CEO of BridgeLane Group, Markus Kahlbetzer; AgThentic founder and CEO, Sarah Nolet; and Super Butcher managing director, Susan McDonald.
Mr Ven Delden, KPMG Australia, said he believes that innovation and evolution have much in common.
“Breakthroughs happen right at the edge, closest to the problem that needs a solution,” he said.
“Pitch in the Paddock is about providing the best of Australia’s many entrepreneurial beef sector innovators with the opportunity to showcase their solution to the industry, receive constructive feedback, and access expert start-up coaching insights.
“KPMG are proud to be donating specialist acceleration advice to the founders of the winning startups.”
Mr Richards said he’s extremely happy to be part of the judging panel for the first Beef Australia Pitch in the Paddock competition.
“Food security and food technology is an interesting space to invest,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to hearing about innovations in the beef industry."
