Bronwyn Halliday was nervous when her 104 kilogram bull, J. and C. Mousetrap, strode into the Angus show ring at the Canberra Royal.
But nothing caught Mousetrap as he romped through the bull 24-30 month class then snared the senior and grand champion broad ribbons before taking the supreme exhibit honours.
“I didn’t know what he was going to do,” she said.
She and husband, Chris, operate the J. and C. Angus stud at Wildes Meadow.

Mousetrap defeated the grand champion female, Hillview Jillian, exhibited by Danny and Debbie Hill, Hillview Angus stud, Bungendore, for the top award.
The judge, Scott Myers, Myers Limousins, Moss Vale, was full of praise for for both the grand bull and female.
Mr Myers also manages Myanga Angus at Goulburn for Stephen Dunne.
Mousetrap was sired by J. and C. Appeal A10 from J. and C. Daisy 5175.
The grand champion female, Hillview Jillian, was sired by Flag Cross Country 90052 out of Hillview Whisky and Dry W12.

Kate Swain, Kaytee Angus, Peak Hill picked up the junior bull honours with Kaytee MC Hammer M6 who had won the 14-16 month class.
She also picked up the reserve champion junior bull with Kaytee MJ M4.
Reserve senior champion bull was Mt Hunter Mean Machine exhibited by Simon and Judy Hennings family, Mt Hunter Angus, Camden.
The Hennings family also picked up junior female honours with Mt Hunter Mildred M30 who downed the Halliday family’s J. and C. Cheyenne N20 the reserve champion.
