A force-ful female has edged her way through tough competition to claim the supreme Limousin exhibit title at the Royal Canberra Show over the weekend.
Exhibited by the Brewer family from Curemont Limousin stud, Numbaa, Progress Mimis Force J4 was a complete package.
The five-year-old cow was by Progress Force Field F2 from Progress Mimi F11 and showed with a five-month-old bull calf, Curemont New Age Legend sired by Flemington Legend L12, at side.
Judged by Donna Robson, Flemington Limousin stud, Adelong, the female was described as “smooth made with length and soundness”.
“She has extension through the front end, and depth and capacity throughout with great length from hip to pin and good udder development,” Ms Robson said.
“She shows with an exceptional bull calf at side.”
Mimis Force J4 chipped the junior and grand champion bull, Longreach Muscle Man, for the top title when it came down to the wire.
The 16-month-old Muscle Man, exhibited by Carolyn Tooth from Longreach Limousins, Marulan, weighed 642 kilograms and was by Donna Valley Poll Dictator from Longreach Gymnaste.
Longreach had a clean sweep in the bull section also being award senior champion bull with their exhibit Longreach Maxwell. Sired by Donna Valley Poll Enterprise from Longreach Freyer, the 21-month-old bull weighed 838kg.
Reserve junior champion Limousin bull went to Kia Ora Nicodemus exhibited by Mary and Michael Parsons, Kia Ora stud, Roslyn. By Summit Venture Capital J26 from Kia Ora Jenny, he weighed 566kg.
Reserve senior champion bull was David and Debbie Hodgson’s exhibit, Benmanang Master Class, who weighed in at 946kg at 24 months and was by the Premier Dauphin B38 sire from Kia Ora Honey.
Longreach Limousins continued their success into the female section, receiving junior champion female with Longreach Maxine Madeleine.
The 14-month-old female was by GHR Polled Aftershock from Donna Valley P. Maxine-Fleur.
Reserve champion female went to 16-month-old, Lavalla Modesta, exhibited by Karinne Gelderman, Berdihold Limousin stud, Oswald. Modesta was by Wulfs Apostle T343A from Lavalla Kliquot.
Jordan Ridge, Mystic Ridge Limousins, Freemans Reach, exhibited the reserve senior champion Limousin female Summit Cauliflower L38 with two-month-old heifer calf at side, Mystic Ridge Cauliflower’s Niki. The 28-month-old female was by Wulfs Zane X238Z from Summit Cauliflower H10.
First place in the breeder’s group class went to Longreach Limousins, Marulan.
