For Delegate Public School, preparing for the show is a year long exercise that begins in the school garden, which was established as part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program.

The school gained funding from the scheme to establish the garden some years ago, and has continued to fund it itself throughout the years.

Cooking has also been part of a special program at DPS, with local, John Rocke ‘Cooking Tutor’, supervising baking and the making of condiments and jams - both highly successful categories for the school - at the show.

Art and hand writing prizes, a series of first place certificates for vegetables and champion sashes for the best collection of herbs and the most successful condiments exhibitor, made up a pretty impressive haul of awards to display back at school.

Elsewhere on the showground, champion fleece of the show and the supreme Merino exhibit went to Hynesville Merino stud, while in the cattle ring Maryanne Robinson and Graeme Thistleton of M. and G. Speckle Park stud at Nimmitabel won the supreme beef exhibit.

In the horse ring champion gentleman rider went to Patrick Salway, Wandella,
