ROBIN and Andrew Winterflood look across the ridge that is the backdrop to their home “Laverstock”, at Kangiara, on the Southern Tablelands, and shudder at the thought of what their view could become.
If CWP Renewables has its way within a band of two to five kilometres from the Winterflood’s home there will be 71 wind turbines generating electricity for the national grid.
And each will be 200m tall.
This proves problematic to the Winterflood family.
The original 1860s homestead was updated by Sydney architects Green and Scott in the late 1920s and included a garden design that faces due east, directly onto the ridge on which CWP wants to build a 200 megawatt power station.
“Laverstock”, should CWP Renewables win its bid, will have more than a 180-degree view taking in most of the turbines.
