Rising to the top of a strong showing of Holstein cattle Murribrook Windhammer Cybele-ET-OC impressed international judge Claire Swale from the United Kingdom, with her overall “balance and dairy strength” which saw her awarded the senior champion female sash.
Exhibited by Murribrook Holsteins from Samurah Pty Ltd, Moss Vale, the rising six-year-old female was by Gillette Windhammer-ET-BLF-CVF from Murribrook Goldwyn Candace-IMP-ET.
Judge Ms Swale, said she had tremendous balance from nose to tail and a beautiful udder.
“A female with deep angular sweep to her rib and strength of top,” she said.
The quality female was also awarded best senior udder by Ms Swale who said “the udder is full of with great attachment, venation and an ability to produce a lot of milk and last lactation after lactation”.
Reserve senior champion female was awarded to the Walsh and Duncan families’ entry Cairnsdale Amazing Kiss.
“A really dairy female with a lot of breed character”, the three-year-old female by Mr Atlees Altaamazing from Cairnsdale Cousteau Kirsty, was said to have “strength and capacity, and an advantage in the fore-udder attachment” by the judge.
Honourable mention went to Ms Jenny Crawford’s, Numbaa, entry Coolea Aftershock Dita.
Ms Swale said she was impressed with her lineup of females for the senior champion Holstein title.
“I’m really happy with my lineup, they epitomise what I am looking for in my females,” she said.
“They are cows that are going to produce a lot of milk and cows that are going to last.”
Wintercrest Atwood Peg was named the intermediate champion female and best intermediate udder, exhibited by the Walsh and Duncan families, Jaspers Brush.
The rising four-year-old female was by Maple Downs-I GW Atwood from Euroma Export Peg and was said to have “femininity, dairy strength, style, capacity and the best udder in the class”.
Reserve intermediate female was won by Michael and Ashliegh Rood from Whitegold Holsteins, Morans Crossing, with their entry Whitegold Absolute Satin-ET-Red, sired by Apples Absolute-ET-RED from Whitegold Satin Inred-ET-RED.
Coolea Commander Brenda, exhibited by Jenny Crawford, received an honourable mention.
Murribrook Holsteins continued their success taking out junior champion Holstein female with their exhibit Murribrook Doorman Lauren-IMP-ET.
The 19-month-old female, by Val-Bisson Doorman-ET-DPF-BLF-CVF-BYF from O’Connors Snowman Lilac-ET, was commended for being “extremely stylish”.
“There is not a lot wrong with this heifer. She has great rib set, walks on a fantastic set of legs and her tail set into her pins is very good,” Ms Swale said.
Murray and Jane Polson, Oxley Island, received reserve junior champion female with Mario Park Solomons Midas by Walnutlawn Solomon from Mario Park Atwood Midas.
Honourable mention went to Murribrook Holstein’s entry Murribrook Solomon Tambourine-ET by Walnutlawn Solomon-ET-RDF-DPF-BLF-CVF-BYF from Murribrook Goldwyn Tango.
The pen of three Holstein females was won by the Walsh and Duncan families entry for their overall “uniformity, balance and quality through the bone and legs”.
