This year’s senior champion Jersey female at the Sydney Royal Show went to Kathleigh Gun Grace, from Kathleigh Astound Grace by SV Jade Hired Gun, bred by Kathleigh Jerseys at Forbes, and prepared for show by Brad and Jessica Gavenlock, Tallygaroopna, Victoria.
American judge, Mike Berry, Oregon, described the rising five-year-old as exhibiting style and balance with a sense of dairy strength and showing the best udder.
Third calver Kathleigh Gun Grace was later crowned supreme interbreed champion, a title she very nearly received at last year’s Sydney show. The champion cow had also won supreme intermediate champion in 2016 and took out best Jersey udder three years in a row.
Judge Mr Berry gave reserve senior champion Jersey ribbon to Shirlinn Tequila Dawn, from Shirlinn Free Dawn by Tower Vue Prime Tequila, exhibited by the Wilson, Yarnold and Lowman families, Tamworth.
The four-year-old cow was also awarded for producing the highest total kilograms of butter fat and protein in her class.
Honorable mention went to Shirlinn Governor Eve, from Shirlinn Flower Eve by Griffens Governor, bred and exhibited by Brian and Vicki Wilson and family, Tamworth.
Best intermediate udder went to rising four-year-old Miami Verbatim Cowlsip 4930 from Miami Tequila Cowslip 4660 ET by Arethusa Verbatim Response.
Junior champion Jersey female was awarded to Shirlinn Joel Melys 2 from Shirlinn Reagan Melys by Gumo Joel, bred and exhibited by the Wilson family, Tamworth.
This 12-month-old heifer went on to win supreme interbreed junior champion at Sydney.
Reserve junior champion Jersey female went to 13 month old Rivendell Getaway Rose from Rivendell Celebrity Rose by Rapid Bay Getaway, exhibited by Brunchilli Farming Trust and Rivendell Jerseys, Numbaa.
Honorable mention in the junior Jersey female category went to nine-month-old Shirlinn Joel Eve, from Shirlinn Verbatim Eve by Gumo Joel exhibited by the Wilson family.
Intermediate champion dairy female went to the Jersey, Miami Verbatim Cowslip 4930 from Miami Tequila Cowslip 4660 by Arethusa Verbatim Response exhibited by the Philmar Dairy Company, Tocumwal.
The rising four-year-old went on to win supreme intermediate dairy female.
Reserve intermediate Jersey female went to Stormhill Madison Design from Diamondhill Jacinta Opals Design by Bralock Tequila Madison exhibited by Mali Dillon, Picton.
Honorable mention intermediate was awarded to Homeland Tequila Silvermine exhibited by “Sun Vale”, Yarroweyah, Vic.
Herdsman’s best maintained dairy team was awarded to Brian and Vicki Wilson and family, Tamworth.
