At the end of 2017, Tara Anglican School for Girls, North Parramatta, is excited to celebrate its authorisation as an International Baccalaureate World School for the Middle Years Programme (IB MYP).
Tara is part of a global community of schools committed to developing knowledgeable, caring young people.
The program provides a structure that supports and fosters a connection between the academic and pastoral curriculums.
Being concept and context driven, while demanding action and service, is an area of particular strength and reflects Tara’s core values, core purpose, and mission statement.
Learning in an IB MYP framework moves students beyond knowledge of information and development of skills, into an analytical approach to learning which engages them in the world beyond the classroom.
“The conceptual nature of learning in this framework encourages students to reach beyond national and cultural boundaries,” a Tara spokeswoman said.
“Units of learning developed around concepts help to integrate learning, add coherence to the curriculum, deepen disciplinary understanding, build the capacity to engage with complex ideas and allow transfer of learning to new contexts.”
Currently Years 7 to 9 are being taught in the MYP framework with Year 10 to be added in 2019.
