MERINOS continue to top Narromine store sheep sale and last Wednesday was no exception when 92 in-lamb five to six year-olds made $113 each.
The Haddon Rig blood, September shorn ewes, all in lamb to White Suffolks for a May drop sold for Richard Leach and family, “Claremont”, Peak Hill.
Sara Cannon and Col Clayton trading as Cannon/Clayton, “Verellan”, Tomingley, sold 161 mixed-age Merino ewes of Towalba blood, December shorn, scanned 100 per cent to Border Leicester rams to lamb May/June at $106 each.
Top-priced first-cross ewes made $100 a head for 197 joined mixed-ages from Ray Martin, “Wanganui”, Condobolin.
Younger ewes were dearer by comparison when 103 unjoined first-cross ewes, September/October 2017 drop, January shorn, made $91 a head as did November/December ‘17 drop, March shorn for the Cullen, Family, “Dinoa”, Trangie, with all heading to the Forbes district.
Store lambs also held back in prices with the top draft at $85 each being paid for 65 October ‘17 drop unshorn from the Read family, “Claremont”. The Cullen family gained $70 and $66 respectively for 48 September/October ‘17 drop January shorn store lambs and 118 November/December’17 drop March shorn lambs.
