The sound of racing horses and cheering crowds once again could be heard in the small central west village of Quambone.
The last time the Marthaguy Picnic Race Club held a meeting at the Quambone track was in 2013 when Bathurstian won the cup for Bathurst trainer Paul Theobald.
This year there was a dead heat with the judge unable to separate the Sharon Jeffries, Parkes trained Rehanaat and Track Flash who is trained in Moree by Peter Sinclair.
The fashions on the field also attracted a good quality field of entrants with Stacey Wild from Goondiwindi and Bill Green from Carinda the best dressed lady and gent with Christine Pointing from Walcha taking home the prizes for the best millinery.
Lucy Pickering from Mendooran was named Miss Marthaguy for 2018 while Quambone locals, Claudette Slack-Smith and Danny Hopkins were the judge’s choices for the best dressed junior girl and boy.
