Rural manufacturing company Whitlands Engineering is celebrating its 25th year of business in 2018.
Located in a rural farming area in North East Victoria, the company designs and manufactures Australia’s leading brands of log splitters and firewood processors – Superaxe, Aussie Chopper and Rex. Beginning with the famed Superaxe in 1993, David Burder (now head designer and CEO) had the design ready to go but no experience running a business but persevered with remarkable success.
Mr Burder is committed to employing local people and manufacturing in country Victoria and it keeps integrity in the manufacturing process.
The other ingredient in Whitlands Engineering’s success is through innovative design and benchmark manufacturing standards, resulting in products that are made to last.
Ergonomic design is key, making the backbreaking task of splitting wood simple and comfortable – the operator always has a straight back and lifting is eliminated with hydraulic log lifters fitted as standard.
The smaller range of log splitters includes the Superaxe and the Aussie Chopper. Similar in configuration, the main difference is that the Superaxe has a pivoting blade, and the Aussie Chopper features a vertical sliding blade. With both machines, the block is processed at bench height, with a range of engine options determining cycle time and power. Every model is compliant to the current Workcover standards, featuring innovative safety solutions which eliminate any risk of injury.
