Bathurst-based apprentice Jamie Gibbons rode his career-first winning double at this year’s Cobar Cup meeting aboard Stravali for Parkes trainer George Wright and in the following race Northern Myth for Rodney Robb who’s stable is based in Nyngan.
Tiffany Jeffries from Parkes also rode a double at the meeting, however it was her third victory in the feature race the WesTrac Cobar Cup over 1700m on Victorian Crown for Wangaratta trainer Russell Green that brought a huge smile to her face.
This year the best dressed Cobar family at the Cup were the Walsh’s, Brianca, Sean, Jhett and Eliza. It was also another family affair with locals Lauren and Ryley Urquhart named the best dressed teens and Lewis Urquhart and Laura McLeod the runners-up.
Brooke McGregor from Wagga Wagga had the best millinery while Lisa Robinson from Cobar is this year’s best dressed lady with Mede Bendall also from Cobar the runner-up.
The title of best dressed gentleman went to Tom Draper from Sydney and popular local Roy Simpson was the judge’s pick for runner-up.
