The annual Binnaway Races was once again a popular choice for many with buses delivering eager racegoers from nearby towns, such as Coonabarabran. The feature race, the 2018 Jack O’Brien Memorial Binnaway Cup over 1300m was won by Still Undaunted.
The four year old brown gelding by Duporth was ridden by Billy Cray who along with trainer Brett Cavanough made the trip from Scone for the day. The fashion on the field judges selected Lavenia Whippy from Mudgee as the best dressed lady on course while Guy “Darky” Mitchell from Binnaway was named the best dressed gent.
Marcus Pitomac from Wellington and Bella McKechnie from Dubbo were the crowd favourites for the best dressed junior boy and girl. While local girl Emily King was a standout for best dressed filly, Jess Skinner from “Kybeyan” Merrygoen caught the judge’s eye with her millinery.
