Snow has fallen across many areas of the southern and central tablelands as a cold icy spell hit many parts of NSW and even southern Queensland on the weekend.
Black Angus turned into white Angus at Kunuma Angus Stud near Cooma on Friday night as the big cold change swept in with snow falling.
Nearly 60cm of snow fell in the Snowy Mountain ski resorts, giving them a perfect start to the ski season. Another 10cm was expected in the next day.
Snow was reported at many parts of the central tablelands including Crookwell and Oberon. Minimums crashed to zero degrees in many parts of the tablelands with even Wellington recording 0.8 degrees. There were only light falls of rain of up to 5mm in the Central Tablelands with the cold change. Some areas of the South-West slopes and Riverina recorded some decent rainfall of over 10mm in the last two days.
Unfortunately frosty nights with clear skies are expected for the next week, and no further rainfall.
Weatherzone forecaster Jacob Cronje said in the coming week inland NSW would be dry although there was a chance of further snow and snow flurries in Oberon, Orange and Bathurst tonight and very early Monday. Snow was reported as far north as the Barrington Tops.
At Katoomba, Oberon and Orange the temperature fell to zero degrees on Saturday night.
Some coastal areas will receive rain over the next few days as showers move in but the wet weather will not penetrate very far inland. Parts of the Hunter though up to Maitland may get more than 40mm over the next few days, which may bring some relief to struggling farms in that area.
