The PJ O’Brien Memorial Race Day at the Walgett Jockey Club and in particular the feature race the Geronimo Farm Equipment, New Holland Walgett Cup over 1400m attracted trainers from as far apart as Lismore in northeastern New South Wales and Wangaratta in Victoria.
This year the Walgett Cup which was won by Victorian Crown will find a home at Tarra Tender Cuts, the butcher's shop trainer Russell Green runs from his farm in Tarrawingee a small village 12 kilometres east of Wangaratta.
Victorian Crown was ridden by Parkes based jockey Tiffany Jeffries, who had earlier ridden Little Queen to victory for trainer Russell Green as well as the aptly named Vaguely Related which is trained by her mother Sharon Jeffries as well as being owned by her husband Alex Prout.
