Lyndhurst vendors, Trent and Kimberly Johnstone, Trojon stud, gained the $8000 top female price at the 59th annual Dubbo Shorthorn National sale last week.
Their sale-topper was the 8.5-months-old Trojon Phyllis N52 (P), by Narralda Jester J035 and from Southern Cross Trojon Phyllis K106 by Ronelle Guns For Hire (P). She was purchased by Western Australian buyers, Kevin and Robyn Yost, Liberty Shorthorns, Toodyay.
Mr Johnstone said the Yosts saw the heifer when she was shown on her mother at Beef Australia 2018 in Rockhampton, Queensland, where the pair won grand champion Shorthorn female.
“She will return to the Trojon herd and will be flushed and may be shown on behalf of Liberty stud in the future.”
Seven heifers were sold by the Helmsman auction system in the early evening at the completion of the bull judging to average $4570.
Second top-priced at $5250 was Warraberry Freda N135 (P), by Ronelle Park Hurricane H242 (P) and from Warraberry Freda F72 (P) by Marellan Knapsack (P). She was offered for Jeff and Chris Hall, Warraberry stud, Parkes, and bought by Sprys Shorthorns, Wagga Wagga.
Two heifers made $4500 each including Moombi Margie N204 (P) by Bayview Unique (P), from the Job family, Moombi stud, Cumnock, purchased by Thomas Hotham, Glendenda stud, Triangle Flat, and and Warraberry Myrtle N256 (P) a second heifer sold by the Hall family and bought by the Jobs, Moombi stud.
