Despite trying conditions across the New England, Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School’s 16th annual Angus bull sale at Tamworth was a success on June 20.
A total of 27 bulls sold of the 36 offered for a 75 per cent clearance and $4439 average.
Farrer M99 topped the sale selling for $9000 to the Laurie family from Knowla Angus stud, Moppy near Gloucester.
Sired by Dunoon Honeysuckle H240 from Farrer H124, the 22-month-old bull weighed 841 kilograms with a scrotal circumference of 44 centimeters.
The second top-priced bull was Farrer M54 that was purchased by Gulgai Pastoral, Nundle, for $8000.
Weighing in as the heaviest bull in the sale draft at 875kg, the 23-month-old bull was by Murray Thunderbird K30 from Farrer Kiwi F57, with a measurement of 45cm in the scrotum.
Volume buyers included Miller Family Pastoral, Walcha, bought four bulls to a top of $4500 and $3625 average; and Ginerio Pastoral from Bingara, purchased three lots for $3000 each.
The sale was conducted by Elders through the Helmsman auction system.
