THE Association of Agricultural Field Days of Australasia (AAFDA), of which Mudgee Small Farm Field Days is a member, is an umbrella group that works to ensure that the events meet the highest standards.
Members of the group come from across Australia and New Zealand.
The specific focus of each event varies slightly, but their mutual aim is to promote agriculture.
Sometimes businesses that carry out similar roles feel they are in competition with each other, but AAFDA members realise that their events can benefit from their association.
The individual field day events are so isolated that it can seem hard to get advice from colleagues in a similar situation.
However, the AAFDA email network has proven that the distance between the events is no hurdle for communication.
Events benefit from being able to discuss aspects of their events that bind them together, as problems that one event faces will be similar to another event.
“It is great being able to share experiences and solutions to common issues, such as safety, marketing and protocols,”Mudgee Small Farm Field Days general manager Cassandra Stanford said.
The association is currently working to streamline its terms and conditions to make them more consistent for exhibitors and the public.
