The Mudgee and District Garden Club was established in 1995 and currently has 93 members of varying ages.
The Mudgee and District Garden Club organises garden visits and other related activities on the first Sunday of the month for eight months of the year.
Members visit wide ranging gardens in the Mudgee district and learn much from each other about gardening in Mudgee’s hot summers and cold winters.
Many people new to Mudgee join the garden club, make friends with like minded people and increase their gardening knowledge.
A committee of 15 members arrange these visits and also a winter warm up luncheon in July at the CWA Rooms which features a guest speaker.
There is also a Christmas party luncheon in December. Coach trips to gardens in other country towns are also often part of the garden club calendar.
Mudgee and District Garden Club members also assist at the annual Mudgee Show in the Horticulture Pavilion and the club sponsors a prize in the horticulture section.
The club has also contributed financially and with volunteer helpers to assist with landscaping and plants for the Mt Tomah Garden at the Australian Rural Education Centre.
Club members volunteer to offer advice on gardening in the garden club marquee in this area for the Mudgee Small Farm Field Days weekend.
At the event club newsletters and club membership forms are distributed to those people interested in joining the club.
