FROM grey box, to white cypress pine, river red gum to boree, Riverina farmers popping into town next week can get ready for National Tree Day by picking up TEN free plants!
With National Tree Day marked for Sunday July 29, Riverina Local Land Services will have tubestock suitable to the varied growing conditions to establish isolated paddock trees, infill planting in existing revegetation or restoration sites, or establish a small cluster planting.
Trees will be available at the Riverina LLS offices at Gundagai, Griffith, Hay, Narrandera, Wagga and Young from 8:30am to 5pm from Monday until Friday July 27 – no appointment needed.
"We have assorted paddock trees available - in the western part of our region around Hay and Griffith we have species like grey box, white cypress pine, river red gum and boree ready, and in the eastern area around Young and Gundagai we have red box and yellow box to name a few," said Manager Land Services Andrew Lieschke.
"We would love to see farmers come and collect their trees and they can ask us any questions on other things while they're there."
"There's no need to call beforehand, we will have plenty of stock available."
