LAMBS selling at Dubbo saleyards may be just off the mark for a national record price, but from a local perspective the saleyard’s record has now been broken each week for the past three prime sales.
On Monday lambs sold by Robert and Jenny Attenborough, Tottenham, made $278 a head. These second-cross lambs were auctioned by the team at Carter Lindsay and Weber, Dubbo.
"The lambs were all over 77 kilograms (liveweight)," said John Lindsay, Carter Lindsay and Weber.
Christie and Hood, Dubbo, auctioned another line of extra heavy weights for $277/head.
The week before 72.5kg lambs from Craig and Gary Fordham, “Yarran”, Armatree, topped at $270.60/head and three weeks ago another pen from the Shanks family, Dubbo, sold for $255/head.
The National Livestock Reporting Service said there were plenty of sales at more than 800 cents a kilogram for trade lambs at Monday’s sale, where 30,260 head were yarded. The record for Merino lambs is $233, set at last week’s sale.
