Ausmectin Southern Beef Week kicked off today in the Riverina region of the state, with seven studs opening their gates.
Studs on display were Hicks Beef (composites and Red Angus), Wirruna Poll Herefords, Kanimbla Poll Herefords and Ravensdale Poll Herefords at Holbrook; Huon Charolais at Jindera; Rennylea Angus at Culcairn and Yavenvale Herefords and Poll Herefords at Borambola.
James and Nicki Pearce, Yavenvale Herefords/Poll Herefords, Adelong, in partnership with James’ parents Pat and Helen, participated in the Beef Week for the fifth time.
With rising interest in their stock, Mr Pearce said it is a wonderful opportunity to showcase bulls to prospective clients.
“Our main sale is in February but this gives us the chance to show our bulls and build interest,” he said.
“We have sold five bulls so far today and it is only ten o’clock.”
David and Judy Gray, Houn Charolais, Jindera, opened for the first time as apart of Southern Beef Week.
“It is a great opportunity to showcase our bulls prior to our spring sale at the end of September” Mr Gray said.
The Ausmectin Southern Beef Week event continues through to Sunday, August 5.
The focus tomorrow will be studs in The Rock, Young and Cootamundra areas.
