A HERD of 500 Angus and Angus-cross breeders – worth more than $750,000 – have been gradually nicked from a property on the state’s North Coast over three years, in what investigators are calling a calculated operation by duffers.
Rural Crime Investigators in the Coffs-Clarence Police District said the theft of cows, heifers and calves from a Hernani property near Dorrigo happened over an extended period between 2014 and April 2017.
The cows have a distinctive triangular shaped earmark in the middle of the left (nearside) ear.
The investigation has been ongoing, and investigators have information to support the cattle being systematically removed from the property over the three year period.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who has knowledge of suspicious activity in the Hernani area or from those who might know the current whereabouts of the cattle.
The property subject of the theft and ongoing investigation is ‘Camara’, Donellan’s Road, Hernani via Dorrigo. If you have any information contact the Rural Prevention Team at Grafton and speak with Detective Senior Constable Travis Ware on 6642 0222.
About 20 to 25 tonnes of oats were stolen from Burgoon Lane, Molong on Sunday.
The oats, which were stored in silos on the property, have been used to feed drought stricken stock.
