QUALITY Charolais genetics will be up for grabs at this year’s Golden Guitar Charolais Sale at Tamworth on August 22.
Three leading NSW Charolais studs – St Antonio, Leppington and Oberon; Caloona Park, Loomberah; and Derra, Armidale – will have 40 bulls on offer at the 12th annual sale, held at the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange.
Agent Chris Paterson, Tamworth, said the sale, one of only a few Charolais multi-vendor sales in the country, included top quality Charolais bulls suited to commercial operations.

Interest has mainly been from crossbreeders in the past, who have used the European sires to boost growth rates and muscle.
In last year’s sale, three bulls – two from St Antonio, one from Caloona Park – reached the sale high of $10,000, with 30 bulls averaging $6100 and bulls being sold to commercial producers from the New England, Hunter Valley and Northern Rivers.
Inspections begin at 10am, with the sale to start at 1pm.
