Italian tractor manufacturer, Antonio Carraro, has once again taken innovation to a new level with two new model ‘Tonys’ they will land on Australian shores in October.
Always on the lookout for new technology, and with a better approach to farming front-of-mind, the Italian factory is launching its new 75 HP variable transmission hydrostatic tractors: TTR and TR 7600 infinity.
The tractors feature the Tempomat active system, which allows the operator to shift on the go and independently control engine revs and speed, keeping them constant even in the presence of varying loads.
The new system also has a memory function to recall preferred speed settings for specific tasks, allowing the operator to readily return to that ideal set-up.
The TTR and TR 7600 is also equipped with the Uniflex (AC patent) hydropneumatic suspension system, which operates through the 3-point linkage, ensuring stability of the equipment and operating comfort even across extremely uneven terrain.
Antonio Carraro Oceania sales manager Marco Corra says innovation is essential for the farm machinery maker.
“In Australia, our sales numbers are modest in comparison with our United States branch or European branches, but the effort on always developing a better tractor is slowly paying off, also here Down Under,” he said.
The range of Italian specialised tractors, from low-power hydrostatic to tracked tractor models, offers broad solutions for farmers and producers on the land.
All the AC models are constant 4WD and their chassis oscillates 15 degrees in the middle to allow constant grip and a better stability in steep terrain. Many of the models also have a handy reversible driving console.
Another example of the innovations playing out in the Antonio Carraro range is the pressurised cabin fitted on the TGF model.
Specifically designed for spraying, with a minimum height of 1740 millimetres, it is ideal for orchards and Y-type plantations.
The TGF was initially a prototype in 1998. Awarded certification of category 4 – the maximum protection against dust, aerosol and gasses - it entered production in 2008.
Joe Saliba, Saliba Fruit apple farm, Bilpin, NSW, knows the Italian brand well.
“It is exceptionally quiet inside the cabin,’’ he says. “I now listen to the radio or make phone calls while I am spraying. I feel very safe in it.’’
Also being released is an upgrade on the 2017 model Tony 10900TR which has a hybrid mechanical/hydrostatic transmission. The Tony TR, fitted with a Kubota 4 cylinder 99HP engine, was awarded Tractor of The Year 2017 in Best of Specialised.
