The Handypiece team, based in New Zealand, is hard at work producing new stock and repairing existing Handypieces at this time of year.
But the staff will take time out of their workshop schedule to be at the Henty Machinery Field Days to spread the word about making dirty jobs as simple as possible when working with sheep, cattle, deer, goats and alpacas.
“We hear that even the occasional large dog gets a trim with the Handypiece,” a company spokesman said.
“The Handypiece Pro is smaller and stronger, 100gm lighter than a standard handpiece with a powerful brushless motor, and no greater heat build-up than you get from a traditional wall powered plant.
“The Handypiece Pro has the added feature of variable speed from 2400 to 3500rpm.
“Dagging, crutching and trimming cows tails operate well at about the mid-speed of 2700 rpm, while anyone wanting to get a nice cut while shearing can wind it all of the way up to 3500rpm.
“Now alpaca shearers can use a traditional handpiece that is slim to hold, but now with the speed that they can reduce to the same as a clipper.
“The new motor now means the battery lasts even longer as it is possible to crutch up to 300 to 400 sheep from one charge.
“It is ideal for ‘out the back’ work where a generator would normally be used and keeping in the vehicle or ATV through times of fly strike.”
