Dalby manufacturer Janke Australia had good interest in its new parallelogram planter at Agquip. Engineer and designer Michael Pearson, who welcomed visitors to his site with wife Wendy, said the new units had the ability to be locked up into trailing units, lowering farmers' capital investment in machinery by buying two pieces of equipment in one. It was the Pearsons' second time exhibiting at AgQuip since purchasing the business in early 2017. Contact (07) 4693 7188.

Mining company Santos was explaining its Narrabri gas project to visitors at AgQuip. Principal advisor, landholder relations, Mark Rodgers, Narrabri, said there was a good number of visitors wanting to learn more about the project, which will create 1200 jobs in its construction phase, and 200 ongoing positions. On display were drilling bits, a tricone chipping bit, a sample of the steel casing, and core samples. Contact  (02) 6792 9035.

The team at Fence-Line Solutions, Bob McDonnell and Peter Barrett, had a busy three days at AgQuip, with farmers looking to upgrade fences during the current dry season. On display was the latest Figure 8 tying tool, along with strainers, end assemblies and wire spinners, with all the spinners sold on the first day. The business is based in Brighton, Victoria, and has been exhibiting at AgQuip for 14 years. Contact (03) 5755 1334.

Tamworth business New England Instrument Company was busy for all three days of AgQuip, with farmers interested in drones, as well as laser levels to be used in earthmoving and fencing work. Faber Toolboxes is a family-owned business which manufacturers quality, heavy duty toolboxes for farmers and tradesmen, but the icehouse boxes were the in-demand items at this year's AgQuip. The icehouses are designed to protect and secure car fridges, and can be made to fit any brand or size. Gavin Hanna said there was also good demand for the Jackaroo II and Hercules IV toolboxes, and the business was again offering a trade-in deal with used Faber toolboxes. The Narrabri business has also introduced the Certegy Ezi-Pay system, which allows customers to pay off purchases. Contact (02) 6792 7210

National Ag, based at Moree, had a large selection of agricultural gear on display at AgQuip, including Meridian augers, Universal conveyors, Akron feed mixers, Kwik-Till units and Notch blades. There was strong interest in feed mixers and roller mills at the Eastern Spreaders site at AgQuip, with two NDE feed mixers on display, alongside a selection of Marshall fertiliser spreaders. The mixers range from 11 to 32 cubic metres, and spreaders range from 2.5 to 16 tonne. Service manager Rodney Sitters said dry conditions had prompted the interest in feed mixers, with producers wanting to make best use of the limited feed available. Contact (03) 8373 7135.

Monsoon Irrigators owner Ray Beavis welcome a good number of visitors to his site at AgQuip, with irrigators still interested in ways to improve their systems, despite the current dry conditions. On display was the new pivot panel by Pivot Irrigation Australia, which can be integrated with Moosoon's pivot and linear systems. It operates off a mobile phone signal, has a fully programmable logic controller (PLC), and can be operated remotely. Contact (02) 6652 5264.

Calpeda Pumps had a large range of pressure systems, sump pumps and borehole pumps on display at AgQuip, in the business' seventh year exhibiting at the northern field day. Widespread dry conditions have spurred interest in feed storage, and Enmach Industries, manufacturers of poly silos, had great interest in its versatile Stakka silos, which hold 1.75 cubic metres or 1.3 tonnes of feed or fertiliser. On display at South Australian manufacturer Kelly Engineering's AgQuip site was the award-winning tracking trailer, which won innovation of the year at last year's Henty Machinery Field Days. The trailer boasts front and rear steering and a narrow turning circle and is available in two sizes. Kelly Engineering has been manufacturing disc chains for the past 25 years, with the products well-known for their strength and durability. Kyogle-based family business Grahams Concrete had one of its busiest AgQuips for years, with good interest in their products, including feed and water troughs, and cattle grids. Owner Peter Graham said there was more interest this year, due to beef and lamb producers wanting to develop on-farm feedlots to cope with the dry weather. Chris Guy, owner of Dean Trailers at Bowral, was busy selling a range of trailers. On show were ag bike trailers to single-axle, tandem-axle and tri-axle trailers ranging from $1500 for a "tag-along" to $50,000. There were 12-tonne farm tipper trailers and utility trailers in a range of colours. He bought the company from Errol Dean in 2003. It was the 42nd year the company had been at AgQuip. Westfield Augers Australia's Jenny Godfrey and owner Roland Schmelzer were pleased to see long-standing clients Gordan and Rohan Staal, from Gindie, Qld, and Robert Stehn, from Emerald, Qld, at AgQuip. Gordan has bought Westfield products for 25 years and was impressed with his latest purchase, the WCX 1545 field loader belt conveyor, which is "soft on the chickpeas, has lot of capacity, can load a road train in 18 minutes and is super quiet". Happy customer Gary Humphries, Gunnedah, with Queensland Machinery Agency's Clare Coughran and the Seko Samurai 5 Series 500/150 chopping-mixing wagon. QMA's Mark Coughran said there was high interest in stock feeding at AgQuip. "We understand what farmers are going through. In dry times, this machine shines." TNN Australia's Bill Munton and Moree distributor Andrew Doering sold out of the Mighty Min products and Hay and Silage Booster at AgQuip. "We came with the idea of helping farmers and to give them a few things to help them get through when buying feed for animals," Bill said. Dalby-based Simplicity Australia had its most recent product, the forward folding 18-metre SD-400 planter, on display at AgQuip, as well as a large range of air seeders and tillage equipment. Neil and Craig White, from White Industries, had their 30-tonne chaser bin on display at AgQuip, alongside an eight-tonne chaser bin built in 1978, to demonstrate how far the industry has come. The modern bin's equaliser/walking beams allow for 750mm of travel, and the bin has no internal hydraulic hoses or rams, eliminating the chance of contamination. The business is based at Dalby where all products are designed and manufactured. Contact 1300 825 980.

NDF Disc Planters, Narromine, had one of its newest products on display, a summer cropping planter suitable for dryland operations, which was manufactured to meet customer demand. Managing director Dale Foster has been designing and manufacturing winter crop planters for many years, but the summer planter is one of three products that cater for the dryland cotton industry, along with the stealth plough, and Aqua-Till. Boss Agriculture salesman Warren Anderson, Inverell, said there had been keen interest in the Slimline Planter with its fold-up design that means no escort required on-road. It has an "oversize" sign and can be equipped with flashing lights. "The farmer can sow a paddock, pull a lever, fold it up and drive to the next paddock. It's legal on the road. Ross Marchant, Marchant Engineering, Wetherill Park, said visitors to AgQuip were impressed by his air-driven picket post driver, which can "drive in a four-inch post and water pipe in this extremely hard ground with ease". Shed World and Tilmac staff Matthew Wilkin, Troy Cornelissens and Daniel Drennan were busy at AgQuip showing customers how the combined companies, based in Orange, can design and build rural, industrial and domestic sheds statewide.
