KENNY’S Creek Angus hit a sale top of $11,500 and cleared 90 per cent of its sale draft on last week during the stud’s annual spring bull sale at Hillgrove, Boorowa.
Kenny’s Creek H16 M171 was the $11,500 sale-topper purchased by consistent repeat buyer, Jenny Campbell, Pine Ridge Angus, Canberra.
Stud principal Sam Burton Taylor, Boorowa, said the bulls they offered that were used within the herd brought good money in the sale ring.
“The top-priced bull was used within our herd. He also goes back to Kenny’s Creek H16 who was the sire of the top-priced bull last year,” Mr Burton Taylor said.
“He was +2.8 for IMF (intramuscular fat), +7.7 for EMA (eye muscle area), and was in the top 20pc of the breed for 200-day and top 10pc for 400-day.”
The 26-month-old bull was by Kenny’s Creek Berkley H16 from Kenny’s Creek Patriot K247, and weighed 748 kilograms with a scrotal circumference of 36 centimetres.
Two bulls hit the equal second top price of $9000.
The first of the $9000 bulls was Kenny’s Creek J223 M239, purchased by M. and YE. Ellwood, Kowen. It was the first son of Kenny’s Creek Equator J223 on offer from donor female Kenny’s Creek Bara G721 and weighed 880kg as a 24½-month-old.
Long term customer Sam Davidson from Young outlaid $9000 for Kenny’s Creek Blackpearl M204.
Weighing 766kg it was by Sydgen Blackpearl 2006 from Kenny’s Creek Wilcoola H633. It had been used within the Kenny’s Creek herd, and semen had been collected for future use.
Overall the Burton Taylor family cleared 90pc with 57 bulls sold of the 63 on offer for an average of $5325.
The largest volume buyer was MH Premium Farms, Watson Park, who bought five bulls.
Long term client John Clevedon from CT Clevedon, bought four bulls while another long time bull-buyer, Scott Churchill, Cootamundra, also purchased four bulls.
Despite drought conditions, return buyers James and Baden Henwood for Stan Henwood Trust, Bethungra, secured bulls for their herd.
Landmark settled the sale with Mark Barton and Tim Woodham, both of Wagga Wagga, as the auctioneers.
