A good number of registered bidders attended the 26th annual on-property Kidman sale held by the Carlow family at their Dulcidene home last Tuesday.
Poll Herefords
Nelson Carlow offered a well finished even draft of 41 bulls, which topped at $9000 twice and averaged $5192.
Kidman Falcon M209, the first son offered by Kidman Package J305, weighed 906 kilograms and was the first to find the top price.
Purchased by the Nott family, Tallara, Gulgong, he will be heading to their commercial enterprise.
“At the end of the day he was the best bull here to suit our operations,” Hugh Nott said.
Kidman Cahill M287 also sold to $9000, he weighed 888kg.
He was purchased by the Radford partnership, Albert, who currently run 200 commercial cows.
“With a very good conformation, we hope he will pass this to on improve our females,” Ron Radford said.
Volume purchasers Alto Rural, Corumbene, Dunedoo, bought three poll Hereford bulls to a top price of $7000 and average of $6666. They also purchased two Angus bulls to a top of $8,000 and averaged $7000.
Nelson Carlow said it was a tough day as a lot of their usual clients were hurting out west.
“The bulls are of good quality this year I was very impressed with our offering,” he said.
“We would like to thank all of our return buyers and the new buyers for coming to the sale.”
Angus
Offering 39 well finished and put together bulls, Randall Carlow saw a top of $10,000 and a draft average of $5363.
The top priced bull was Kidman Precedence M13, a 995kg son of Resource 1441, and purchased by Emma and James Nalder, Cudgera, Coonamble, who run about 200 cows commercially.
“He is very even, stepped out well and he has a very good temperament, a key thing we are trying to incorporate into our herd,” Ms Nalder said.
“We have noticed the change in our herds temperaments since using the Kidman bulls,” Mr Nalder added.
Volume buyer was the Fenton family, Trunkey Creek. Their top priced bull was $8000 with an average of $4800 for their draft of five.
Second top price was $8000 three times.
Randall Carlow said it was a credit to the buyers for coming to show support in quiet harsh seasonal conditions.
“We relied on clients from a 200km radius,” he said.
The Kidman sale was conducted by Landmark at Dubbo with auctioneer Joel Flemming manning the rostrum.
