A beautiful sunny Spring day set the scene for the Ballatherie Poll Merino Ram Sale held at Hillston last Friday where buyers payed up to $3300 to secure the genetics.
Vendors Geoff and Dianne Peters and family had lower expectations due to the drought, while a number of clients sent apologies because they didn’t need rams due to low ewe numbers or deciding not to join.
However, a large crowd showed spirited bidding with 115 of the 120 rams selling to average $1480.
It was Henry Watkin, Killara Station, Hillston, who bought the top ram for $3300, one of seven he secured to average $2485.
Chad Davies of Kyella Gunbar bought the ram auctioned for Hillston Can Assist, with the Peters family donating $2100 of his sale to the cause.
Volume buyer overall was new client Merrowie Station, Hillston, who secured 50 rams to a top of $2200, while Phil Harding from Brooklyn, Condobolin, bought 22 rams to a top of $1800.
In other buyer records from the sale; Robert and Alison Glenn from Edward Park Moulamein bought seven rams to a top of $3200.
Keith and Steven Horneman from Hillston purchased to a top of $2700 while Paul and Penny Dickie from Griffith bought to $2600.
Mark Peters welcomed all in attendance and thanked clients for their wonderful support.
The sale was conducted by Landmark with Peter Godbolt as auctioneer.
