COWS with calves sold to a top of $1225 at the Central Tablelands Livestock Exchange, Carcoar, store cattle sale on Friday.
The yarding of 2400 cattle was up on last month’s sale and quality was fair to good according to the National Livestock Reporting Service.
Weaners were well supplied and most of them were light and medium weights. Heavy weaners were in limited supply.
Weaner steers weighing less than 200 kilograms sold from $180 to $600 a head which was dearer than last month’s sale.
The weaner steers tipping the scales at 200kg to 280kg sold from $330 to $825.
Only a small number of weaner steers weighed from 280kg to 330kg and they sold from $890 to $930.
Weaner heifers weighing less than 200kg sold from $210 to $480, but the condition and quality determined the price within this price range. The 200kg to 280kg weaner heifers ranged from $350 to $680 and a small number from 280kg to 330kg sold from $600 to $835.
A limited number of yearling steers ranged from $600 to 760, while yearling heifers sold to a top of $910 a head.
One pen of pregnancy-tested-in-calf heifers sold for $550.
PTIC cows sold from $570 to $800
Quality and condition varied for the cows with calves and this reflected the big range in prices. The cheapest pen sold for just $490 a unit, although better pens sold above $900/unit.
The sale was conducted by agents from the Central Tablelands Livestock Selling Agents Association.
