THE 48th annual spring sale for the Cassilis based Dalkeith Poll and Hereford stud sale was well supported by both return buyers and new purchasers.
Bulls went to a top of $8000 with 29 of 37 sold and more after the auction was finalised. The sale averaged $5071 at auction.
With a 100 per cent clearance, 91 cows with calves topped at $1300 and averaged $1170.
Dalkeith Mate M006, a March 2016 drop son of Otapawa Spark 3060, was the top priced bull of the day and sold to Alto Rural, Corumbene, Dunedoo.
Manager Phillip Redding, liked his depth and length. “He is high in his figures and a good outlook across the bull,” he said.
Volume purchaser, Zane Ryan, Bullaroy Creek Pastoral, Dunedoo, purchased five bulls and 15 cows with calves. His draft of bulls averaged $4800 and the cows with calves averaged $1183.
Charlie Martin, Dalkeith, thought it was a very successful sale. “We are very happy,” he said
“There were a good mix of repeat buyers, new buyers and studs, which is promising.
“We breed our cattle to run in these conditions to give them the resilience needed in the west.
“Bulls can go from here to the coast and put loads of weight on.
“Our breeding philosophy is totally about doing ability.”
The sale was conducted by Elders with Paul Dooley and Angus Stuart at the rostrum.
